Imagine you are attending a seminar at a renowned University and the speaker gives you only ten seconds to define what research is. Your heart is beating fast and you don't know what to say because although you have actually done research over the years, you still haven't gotten a grip on its definition. Significantly to say, it can happen alot to many people out there and you may discover significantly that people know research but sometimes explaining it in a simple concise way may prove to be a problem. Of course, if you are standing in front of University personnel, don't expect a pat on your back for giving a simple straight forward definition. But as a researcher, always remember to have a wide array of definitions and don't just be limited to just one because that is totally, significantly unprofessional.
